Job Description :
This fulltime contractual position is responsible for providing fiscal and administrative support to the Maryland Board of Nursing. The Administrative Specialist III will serve as a frontline assistant to nursing and nursing assistant applicants processing applications for licensure certification and renewal. This role also includes managing cash and credit payments preparing daily deposits and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide frontline assistance to nursing and nursing assistant applicants by reviewing and processing applications for licensure certification and renewal.
- Analyze applications and decide on the correct course of action.
- Interpret and apply regulations (COMAR) and Health Occupations Article 8 to guide applicants.
- Process payments via cash and credit in accordance with accounting best practices.
- Maintain accurate records including preparing daily cash deposits for over $800k in annual receipts.
Qualifications :
Education :
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Experience :
- Two years of experience in administrative staff clerical technical or secretarial work.
- Note : Candidates can substitute 30 college credit hours for one year of experience or military service in a relevant administrative role.
Desired Qualifications :
- Experience working with the public.
- Experience processing credit card payments.
- Strong customer service skills.
Licenses and Certifications :
- Applicants may be required to operate a motor vehicle; a valid Maryland drivers license may be required for such duties.
Selection Process :
- Applicants will be evaluated based on the information provided in their application. All relevant education experience and qualifications should be clearly listed.
- Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a year and the list could be used for other similar positions within the state.
