ASSISTANT / ASSOCIATE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR / STUDENT-ATHLETE SERVICES

Position Number: S-3364

Position Summary:

Academic Coordinator for revenue generating teams and other assigned sports; assists with student-athlete development programming, oversees learning enhancement (mentoring and tutoring) program; mentors at-risk student-athletes; promotes academic success and retention of student-athletes, provides academic advising and monitors academic progress; assists in monitoring continuing eligibility; meets with prospective student-athletes on recruiting visits and provides coaches with relevant NCAA Eligibility Center information regarding prospective student



Required Qualifications:

Bachelors degree.
At least two years of full-time experience working in a college student services area.
Commitment to academic integrity and compliance with University, Conference and NCAA regulations.
Positive interpersonal skills.
Ability to work and communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse educational and social backgrounds.
Ability to multi-task.
Effective organizational skills.
Strong listening skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Willingness to work irregular hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.



Preferred Qualifications:

Masters degree.
Three or more years of full-time experience working in college student services area.
Knowledge of Division I athletic programs.
Knowledge of Division I athletics academics requirements.
Advising and academic support programming experience in an NCAA intercollegiate environment.



Duties & Responsibilities:

Academic Coordinator for revenue generating teams.
Academic Coordinator for other sport(s) as assigned.
Oversees learning enhancement program, including full time staff members, graduate assistants, and interns.
Provides academic support for a large population of at-risk student-athletes.
Assists in creating, implementing and decision-making regarding Student-Athlete Academic Services polices & procedures.
Supervises (3) Assistant Directors for Student-Athlete Services, (1) Learning Specialist, and a Graduate Assistant.
Assists with NCAA continuing eligibility certification of student-athletes for CMU, NCAA, and Mid-American Conference eligibility.
Performs program presentations for recruitment of prospective student-athletes and their parents.
Advises and monitors academic progress for student-athletes to ensure CMU graduation and NCAA eligibility.
Responsible for assisting with student-athlete development programming initiatives and events.
Serves as primary contact for student-athlete academic services.
Manages student-athlete services budget.
Provides annual reports on key performance indicators and student-athletes accomplishments.
Serves on athletic senior leadership committee.
