Under the direction of the Supervisor of Building Trades, the incumbent makes keys, repairs locksets, changes locks, and installs locks. Responds to approved work orders for room/wall changes, shelf installations, cabinet/counter installations, ongoing maintenance/repair and installation of property that is of concern to the carpenter. The extent of the responsibility for the entire structure, inside and out with the exception of plumbing, electrical, ventilation, painting and landscaping; replaces broken glass and repairs window screens, broken window frames, roll up window shades, curtain rods, drapery rods and poles. Makes concrete forms/reinforcement frames, place and finished concrete, repairs roof leaks, installs ceramic or vinyl tile and Corian; repairs doors, frames in cottages and various buildings. Orders supplies, maintains an inventory of supplies and equipment and keeps a clean and orderly shop. Assists other trades or departments with duties as required.
