The State of New Hampshire, State Treasury, Cash Management Division has a full-time vacancy for 13-2010 Accts-Auditors-2.
Summary:
Performs accounting functions for the State Treasury related to statewide cash receipting, to include validating, recording and reconciling items prior to approval in the state's financial system, NH First.
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS : Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with major study in accounting or business administration. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: One year's experience in accounting or auditing work. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
License/Certification: None required.
RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Knowledge of accounting principles and methods and ability to apply and adapt established methods to accounting transactions. Knowledge of office practices and procedures. Ability to supervise accounting staff. Ability to perform detailed work involving written or numerical data and to make arithmetical calculations rapidly and accurately. Ability to interpret financial statements and to prepare accurate accounting reports and statements. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the agency appointing authority.
Responsibilities:
Independently validates, or addresses corrections of, cash receipts prior to final independent approval and posting to the state's financial system, NH First.
Verifies cash receipts received from all state agencies match bank deposits prior to independently applying the final approval in NH First. Communicates with statewide agency staff and banks to address questions or concerns.
Assists in coaching statewide agencies as to best practices regarding the posting of cash receipts. Advises agencies how to resolve cash receipt issues. Assists with generating reports which indicate accounting document status and "process flow" trends. Provides feedback to supervisors.
Independently works with the bank and agency to resolve bank errors, returned items, or other transactions which require adjustment or correction. Develops meaningful business relationships with both bank contacts and agency contacts.
Audits Treasury's internal bank account transfers and wires.
Assists with Treasury's front end customer service; contacts and attempts to resolve non-descript check issues; collects and disburses Treasury mail.
Processes Bank Supply orders for all state agencies. Independently validates and tracks each agency's bank supply order.
Participates in the independent research and resolution of reconciling items identified by Treasury's Bank Reconciliation Department.
Assists supervisors with general cash receipting procedure analysis, in an effort to increase efficiency of the statewide cash receipting process. Provides feedback to supervisors.
Assists with the analysis of data utilizing various online banking systems and EXCEL. Forwards data to all state agencies as necessary. Identifies trends, and provides feedback to supervisors.
