Job Description

Square Fare Head Chef Position

Location: Brooklyn NY Position Type: Full-time

About Us

Square Fare is revolutionizing the way people eat by providing them delicious meals optimized to their individual needs: macros, allergies, and more. Our clients are busy professionals, families, students, and retired people. What they have in common is that they want to eat healthy, enjoy their food, and might have health goals or conditions they are managing: weight loss, bloating, allergies, cholesterol, prediabetes, cancer, and more. They are willing to pay a little bit of a premium for high-quality meals. We can serve anyone because we’ll adapt meals to their needs. We work with nutritionists all over NYC, our clients are seeing results and we are growing!

We are looking for a dynamic chef who is excited at the prospect of helping people in their health journey and challenging their skills to produce a consistent and high-quality product within tough constraints related to budget, operations, and what can be used in our food. Our menus change weekly, emphasizing seasonal ingredients and diverse culinary traditions. We use small amounts of salt, olive oil, and no added sugar. We rely on expert handling of spices, herbs, and interesting garnishes to provide unforgettable flavors and textures.

  • Scale recipes for bulk preparation while maintaining quality
  • Manage inventory and place orders with vendors
  • Ensure food safety compliance and maintain kitchen cleanliness
  • Manage production timelines
  • Oversee portioning and packaging process
  • Minimize food waste through strategic planning

Preferred Skills
  • A passion for healthy eating is a plus
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience with food cost control and inventory management
  • Knowledge of seasonal ingredients and market pricing
  • Background in nutrition or dietary planning a plus
  • Experience with food allergies and cross-contamination prevention
  • Experience working at multi-Michelin star restaurant(s) a plus
