Controller (with Growth into CFO)

Location: NYC
Salary: $150,000 - $225,000

Position Overview:

As the Controller , you will manage key functions within the finance and accounting department, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), product cost analysis by product and channel , as well as core financial operations such as financial reporting, audits, tax compliance , and overseeing overseas transactions . You will work closely with senior leadership to forecast cash flow , manage banking relationships, and support strategic growth initiatives. This role is designed to develop into a CFO position , where you will lead the financial strategy for the company.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Operations & Management:

   • Oversee and manage AP, AR, banking , and vendor promotions , ensuring smooth and accurate daily financial operations.
   • Lead and execute tax filings, audits , and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
   • Manage overseas financial transactions and ensure timely processing and reporting for international operations.
   • Prepare and review financial statements , ensuring accuracy and strategic insight.

2. Product Cost & Channel Analysis:

   • Conduct comprehensive product cost analysis by product and channel , evaluating profitability and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
   • Analyze financial data and provide insights to improve profitability and decision-making across channels.
   • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize product pricing, margins, and overall profitability.

3. Financial Planning & Reporting:

   • Lead financial planning, budgeting , and forecasting processes in line with company objectives.
   • Prepare detailed financial reports for senior leadership, providing actionable insights on financial performance, trends, and risks.
   • Provide cash flow projections , monitoring liquidity and maintaining strong relationships with banks and financial institutions.

4. Leadership & Process Improvement:

   • Manage and mentor the finance team, ensuring accountability and professional development.
   • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations.
   • Ensure adherence to financial controls and compliance with accounting standards.

5. Strategic Initiatives & Growth:

   • Partner with senior leadership to evaluate strategic growth opportunities, including acquisitions and new business ventures .
   • Support the company’s long-term strategic planning by providing financial modeling and cost analysis.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in cost accounting , financial analysis , and financial reporting .
• Expertise in product cost analysis and understanding of channel profitability .
• Strong knowledge of AP, AR, taxes, audits , and regulatory compliance.
• Exceptional leadership and organizational skills with experience managing a finance team.
• Proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting , with a forward-thinking, strategic mindset.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and present financial insights to senior leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with supply chain, product cost management , and channel profitability analysis .
• Familiarity with Amazon marketplace or similar eCommerce platforms.
• Experience in strategic acquisitions or licensing preferred.
