Job Overview

A state-operated correctional healthcare facility is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to coordinate and deliver direct nursing care to an incarcerated population. This role includes clinical supervision, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the delivery of evidence-based nursing services that support health, safety, and rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and provide direct nursing care to incarcerated individuals

  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans

  • Diagnose and manage patient responses to actual or potential health problems using nursing judgment

  • Provide case-finding, health education, counseling, and supportive or restorative care

  • Administer treatments and nursing procedures in consultation with interdisciplinary treatment teams

  • Supervise and provide clinical guidance to Graduate Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and direct care staff

  • Participate as a member of interdisciplinary healthcare teams and health-related committees

  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with facility and regulatory standards

Minimum Qualifications
  • Active license and current registration as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements
  • Must successfully clear a state-run Criminal History Background Check prior to start

    • Clearance may take up to 4 weeks; candidates must be able to accommodate this timeline

  • COVID-19 Vaccination Required

    • Medical exemptions only, per facility guidelines
