HIGH LEVEL OVERVIEW
The Trade Compliance Director will lead the trade compliance program, mitigate regulatory risk, and drive strategic trade initiatives while ensuring adherence to CBP and other government agencies’ rules and regulations.
This is an on-site position for candidates in the Long Beach, CA area.
EXPECTATIONS
Lead the Global Trade Compliance team by fostering a collaborative environment
Develop Trade Compliance policies and procedures
Establish cross functional partnerships to drive adherence to trade programs
In depth experience with duty reduction opportunities; FTA, First Sale, Duty Drawback
Perform risk assessments on import/export-related activities
Stay informed on current global import and export regulations, mitigate impact
Manage customs brokerage SOPs and create KPIs to monitor performance
Enhance post entry audit functionality with data driven, risk-based approach
Implement technology solutions to drive a more efficient trade compliance program
Hands on knowledge of HTS Classification with understanding of tariff engineering
Experience with trade compliance management software and tools; SAP GTS, ACE
ESSENTIALS
10+ years’ experience working in Trade Compliance, including 6+ yrs leading a team
Bachelor’s degree in business or supply chain management or related field
Licensed Customs Broker (preferred)
Experience working with large-scale import operations
Operational knowledge of HTS, Valuation, COO, FTA, PGA, ECCN, AD/CVD, etc.
Proficient data analytics skills with Excel and Power BI
Ability to translate complex trade regulations into operational practices
Hands-on people leader with highly effective communication skills
