The position is based in Los Angeles and may require overtime during nights and weekends, as necessary, to be present during events outside of regular business hours. A flexible schedule is available, however, full remote work or telework is not an option.
Dispatcher Clerks (DC) serve as the primary link and point of contact between the public and Department of Public Safety (DPS). Dispatcher Clerks receive emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance and direct or transmit information and assistance accordingly via phone and radio for the DPS. Dispatcher Clerks work under the general direction of the Chief and in his/her absence the Assistant Chief or Sergeants, for the Department of Public Safety (DPS). The Department of Public Safety reports under the organizational structure of the Office of Exposition Park Management.The DPS's goal is to provide timely and appropriate responses to any problems and needs within the Park. Under the direction of the Sergeant, the Dispatcher Clerk is responsible for a full range of public safety services including but not limited to: (1) receiving and transmitting emergency response information, via radio and telephone; (2) monitoring security cameras and emergency radios; (3) determine urgency or nature of call, obtain specific details related to call, properly relay information to DPS units, and initiate DPS response, as appropriate; (4) custodian of Department Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system with daily data entry; (5) coordinate fire department and/or allied agency police response; (6) dispatch multiple units during large and fast-paced special events, and (7) maintain close and constant contact with units to monitor response and needed support requirements. Responsibilities also include using the NCIC/CJIS systems, maintaining incident call logs or other records, ability to multi-task and prioritize calls and tasks, and other related duties as assigned. Public Safety Dispatcher Clerks are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. Dispatchers may be required to work weekends and different shifts on a rotating basis.
