Reporting to the Director of Legal & Legislative Services, the Intergovernmental Relations and Policy Analyst supports City administration and Council by developing and analyzing policies, programs, and standards that align with the City’s strategic objectives. This position provides critical insights and recommendations to guide municipal decisions and actions, ensuring that Beaumont’s interests are effectively represented in a complex political landscape. What YOU’RE Responsible for:
Intergovernmental Relations
- Prepare briefings on intergovernmental, regional, and Indigenous issues, represent Beaumont in meetings, and build strong relationships with partners
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with regional partners, including other municipalities, government agencies, Indigenous communities, and external stakeholders
Policy Development
- Lead policy development, review, and implementation, ensuring alignment with legislative requirements and strategic objectives
- Analyze relevant trends/data, gather information on new and existing policies and actions of other governments, and perform ongoing environmental scanning on issues and trends with an intergovernmental dimension, such as provincial and federal political developments, policy proposals, budgets, and Indigenous affairs
Indigenous Relations
- Develop and lead the City’s Indigenous relations strategy, fostering trust and mutual understanding between governments
General
- Model City values, participate in workplace safety initiatives, and manage confidential information appropriately
What YOU Bring:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Indigenous Studies, Law or a related field. A Master’s degree is considered an asset. Certificate in Local Government in Municipal Administration (NAACLA I and II) is considered an asset
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in intergovernmental relations, policy analysis, Indigenous relations, or a related field, preferably within a municipal or government setting
- Strong understanding of municipal government operations, intergovernmental processes, and Indigenous issues
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex policy issues and provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership and elected officials
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
- Well-developed research, analytical, and strategic skills
- Demonstrated Valid class 5 Driver’s licence
- Equivalencies may be considered

- A salary range of $83,447.00 - $108,872.40 per annum (based on experience and qualifications)
