Square One Medical is excited to announce a new career opportunity for a Licensed Drug Counselor at our dynamic outpatient detox clinic located in Palm Springs, California. The chosen candidate will be instrumental in both initiating treatment by meeting patients in person during their critical first visits and continuing to support them through ongoing sessions. This demanding yet rewarding role requires a driven individual capable of managing responsibilities effectively within a non-remote, face-to-face setting at our Palm Springs clinic.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial in-person assessments of new patients to establish a tailored treatment plan.
  • Provide continuous face-to-face counseling sessions to assist patients through various stages of detoxification and recovery.
  • Implement our scientifically backed treatment protocols and modify them as necessary to suit individual patient needs.
  • Monitor patient progress, making critical adjustments to treatment plans when indicated.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and promote a holistic approach to recovery.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records, adhering to federal and state laws regarding confidentiality and reporting requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to ensure adherence to the latest in therapeutic practices and techniques.
  • Perform crisis intervention and employ de-escalation techniques when necessary.
  • Engage family members or other supportive individuals in the patient’s treatment plan when appropriate.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions, providing peer support among patients striving for recovery.

Requirements

  • Must hold an independent licensing as a Drug Counselor recognized by the state of California (e.g., CADC, LAADC).
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience in drug counseling, addiction treatment, and therapy, particularly in an outpatient setting.
  • Comprehensive understanding of detox processes, withdrawal management, and addiction psychology.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate, influence, and educate patients struggling with addiction issues.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising quality of care.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and other relevant privacy regulations, demonstrating a high regard for patient confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in maintaining clinical records and preparing reports using office software and patient management systems.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining licensure requirements.
