DESCRIPTION

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

The Mechanical Designer Engineer will be a member of the Kuiper Inter-Satellite Link team, focusing on the design of the various mechanical ground support equipment, including assembly, alignment, and testing fixturing and tooling.

Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will be expected to lead a variety of tasks, developing 3D and 2D mechanical design and related analysis specifically for manufacturing GSE for payloads satellite systems in Siemens NX. The ideal candidate will have a foundation in mechanical engineering suited for both prototype and production level designs.
We're looking for a mechanical engineer with aerospace background, and a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively.
You will be expected to work with a team of top-notch engineers and collaborate with multiple other spacecraft design and integration teams. A day in the life
You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon in different locations. As a Mechanical Designer Engineer, your tasks would vary between fixturing and tooling design, design reviews, building and qualifying. This is a cross-functional role requiring constant interaction with multiple HW/SW design teams and end-users.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- BS degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
- Experience with prototyping and implementation
- Experience with NX, TeamCenter
- Experience in DFM and manufacturing process development. Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators
- Experience with GD&T and tolerance analysis
- Experience with production fixturing and tooling
