Title: Mechanical Engineer
Location: East Peoria, IL
- The Drivetrain Component Team has design responsibility for parts used across Caterpillar machines. This role is an Axle Housing Design Engineer in the Drivetrain Castings Component Team. Tasks will be directed by a Senior Engineer on the team and include concept modeling, stress & life analysis, assessing part nonconformance risk, amongst others.
- Support Senior Engineer by completing design tasks.
- Potential for additional responsibility depending on experience and demonstrated success in the role.
- Caterpillar is expanding and improving its product line which requires extensive redesign. The role offers a combination of specialized detailed design but experience across many of Caterpillar s machines. These components are foundational to the success of the machine.
Education & Experience Required:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience
- Can count internships/co-ops/etc.
Technical Skills
(Required)
- Proficient in Creo
- Understands basic geometric tolerancing
(Desired)
- Proficient in Creo Simulate FEA
- Experience in steel or iron casting design
- Practical / hands-on experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude
