Salary:  $75,000 - $95,000 gross per annum depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.


Location: Office Base is Washington DC, USA

We are looking for an experienced Operations Engineer to join our established team, responsible for the maintenance of operational workflows required by our live services. 


You will undertake defined support processes within a workflow and will either resolve issues or escalate following a defined process focused on Broadcast and Administrative BBC IT platforms based in Washington DC and other locations in the Americas as required.

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Day to day duties will include:


•    Desktop IT support and installation (hardware & software for both PC and MAC) 
•    User login account support & troubleshooting 
•    Office network infrastructure installation and maintenance (LAN & Wireless) 
•    Editing support & Edit suite maintenance (software and hardware) 
•    Installing/ wiring and maintaining servers and other rack mount gear 
•    Printer installation and maintenance 
•    Troubleshoot, Install, maintain & repair broadcast equipment for TV & Radio
•    Card-based security system management 
•    Security camera system installation and maintenance 
•    Electrical safety testing and inventory tracking of all equipment 
•    Maintenance and repair record keeping

Are you the right candidate?

The successful candidate must demonstrate:

  • Broad technical knowledge, including understanding of complex systems built from separate components
  • Experience of operating within, or demonstrable knowledge of, multi-platform environments
  • Experience or knowledge of monitoring and interacting with a range of applications and services
  • Experience in supporting a wide range of broadcast and production technologies, systems and equipment
  • Experience of logging and managing incidents in an operational environment
  • Familiarity with using a range of diagnostic and monitoring tools
  • Ability to communicate effectively with external providers and internal partners
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing defects in complex systems
  • Able to create supporting documentation
  • Able to prioritise according to service impact and work under pressure
  • Awareness of current safety legislation and statutory requirements relating to IT including Electricity at Work
  • Ability to share knowledge with team members
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards, approaches and processes and other relevant regulatory requirements

  • Knowledge of ITIL support model
  • Experience in media and creative environments
  • Knowledge of best practice in IT security policies, standards and procedures
