Job Description

Addison Group Los Angeles, in partnership with our client near Beverly Hills, is seeking a Payroll Manager to join their team.

 

Job - This Payroll Manager will be part of a team of payroll professionals to process multi-state payroll functions for the company. You will be responsible for over 1000+ employees nationwide. This role is an Individual Contributor role, with no direct reports.

 

Job Site Status (onsite/hybrid/remote) – This role is a hybrid work status (3 days/week in the office).

Yearly Salary Range – $120,000/year-$130,000/year depending on qualifications, plus a discretionary bonus.

 

DUTIES OF THE PAYROLL MANAGER

Payroll

· Manage the U.S. payroll process, including the following:

1) Time-keeping processes

2) Deduction processing (benefits deductions, garnishments, etc.)

3) Reviews and decides on payroll exceptions and retroactive adjustments (termination, corrections for missed time)

· Prepare payroll journal entries

· Prepare payroll checks manually if necessary

· Calculate commission checks

· Maintain Payroll/HRIS database through periodic changes of payroll information (headcount, compensation, benefits, etc.)

· Present payroll reports (monthly, quarterly, and yearly), via PowerPoint and conference calls with senior management

· Oversee of the 401K process, including correct deductions for each employee and audits on the 401K process

· Hire and train payroll personnel if needed

· Suggest implementation and upgrades of current payroll software programs

· Oversee any compliance and internal controls issues involving payroll

Miscellaneous

· Accept various other duties as needed

 

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE PAYROLL MANAGER

Required

· Associates Degree

· At least eight (8) years of payroll experience with at least 1,000 employees

· Multi-state payroll experience

Preferred

· Bachelors’ Degree

· Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification

· Consumer Products and/or Retail industry experience

 

SKILLS OF THE PAYROLL MANAGER

Required

Technical

· Expert Level Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, IF Formulas)

· Intermediate Level Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint

Interpersonal

· Ability to handle all payroll questions with superior customer service skills

· Ability to meet deadlines, multi-task efficiently and cooperate with fellow professionals in various disciplines and both office and out-of-office environments

· Ability to take on a substantial workload to lead the team through example if needed

· Detail oriented, with high level of ethics and integrity

· Must be willing to develop and grow with the company and have the desire to take on more responsibility

· Superior communication skills (oral, written)
