City of Matthews, Missouri – Police Officer Position
The City of Matthews, Missouri (population approx. 600) is accepting applications for a full-time Police Officer . Matthews is a fourth-class city governed by a Mayor and Board of Aldermen.
Job Summary:
The Police Officer will perform general patrol duties, enforce state laws and city ordinances, respond to calls for service, and carry out police-related assignments to ensure the safety and security of the community.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Patrol by vehicle within city limits.
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls (accidents, disputes, violations).
- Enforce laws, make arrests, and issue citations.
- Provide public assistance and community service.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and documentation.
- Conduct investigations, interview witnesses/suspects, and testify in court.
- Maintain peace and security, including parks, public spaces, and traffic control.
- Serve warrants and provide courtroom testimony as required.
- Work nights, weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High School diploma or equivalent (required).
- Missouri P.O.S.T. Class A License (required – City will not provide training) 5 years of experience preferred.
- Valid Missouri Driver’s License with an excellent driving record.
- No criminal record.
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Pay: $22.00.
- Benefits: Paid health insurance, retirement, vacation, and sick time.
- Schedule: 12-hour 5PM to 5AM shifts, overtime, on-call, holiday, and weekend availability required.
