The City of American Canyon Parks & Recreation Departmentinvites energetic, creative and responsible individuals to apply for the position of Program Coordinator. Program Coordinators are part-time, temporary staff members who work under Recreation Coordinators to oversee and implement a wide range of recreation programming. Program Coordinators may be asked to provide recreation leadership, supervision, and assistance in various recreation programs, including day camp, youth and adult sports, special events and outdoor spaces.This position is well-suited for applicants with experience as a Recreation Leader or Youth Leader, can work independently, and effectively lead staff members.Being a Program Coordinator can include working shifts that are scheduled during early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays all year around. This is a position that is considered temporary/part-time and employees are limited to no more than 980 hours per fiscal year.
Under general supervision, plans, organizes, coordinates, develops, implements, promotes and evaluates assigned program areas and provides lead direction to lower-level staff and volunteers.

License Requirement:
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License is required at the time of appointment. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to physical disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in a typical outdoor environment on a year-round basis. (1) Mobility: frequent performance of heavy manual labor; frequent standing for long periods of time; frequent bending and squatting. (2) Lifting: frequent lifting up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting up to 75 pounds. (3) Vision: constant use of overall vision. (4) Dexterity: frequent grasping, holding, and reaching. (5) Hearing/Talking: frequent hearing and talking in person. (6) Emotional/Psychological: frequent coworker contact; occasional working alone. (7) Environmental: frequent exposure to loud noise; frequent exposure to chemicals, fumes, and other environmental substances.
Other Requirements:
Some positions may require evening, weekend, or other shift work.
This position accrues sick leave in the amount of 40 hours per year. Participation in PARS (Public Agency Retirement Services). No other benefits are provided.
