Overview:
The position seeks to enhance Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s (ORNL’s) role as a valued member of the community through programs of STEM education and public outreach.
As part of our team, you will…
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
- Promotes ORNL to key stakeholders and the general public through targeted educational outreach activities.
- Interacts with regional educational institutions and supports STEM education initiatives (primarily K-12 and community colleges).
- Field requests for support for various internal and external stakeholders (educators, school and district support staff and leadership, community partners).
- Coordinate classroom visits and outreach with internal staff.
- Create outreach materials for classroom visits.
- Compile data and prepare reports on education outreach and activities.
- Deliver high-quality education external programming and events.
- Promotes awareness of the Laboratory through participation at community events.
- Supports the Laboratory’s programs for group tours as directed.
- Coordinates conferences and special events as directed.
- Ensures compliance with environment, safety, health and quality program requirements.

Basic Qualifications:
- MS degree in education and two years of classroom experience.
- Experience with STEM outreach, curriculum design, employee volunteer education outreach.
- Excellent personal, oral and written communication skills are required.
- The candidate must be at ease with public speaking and with representing UT-Battelle at public events.
Preferred Qualifications:
- An understanding of ORNL’s programs.
- Five years of related experience.
- Familiarity with the Oak Ridge region’s civic and education stakeholders are desired.
- Experience in participation and coordination of volunteer activities, specifically projects involving education outreach, is preferred.
