Seeking Lead Science and Math Waldorf Teacher(s) for Start-Up High School

We are a start-up Steiner/Waldorf - inspired high school in Lawrence, Kansas beginning with a 9th grade in Fall 2026 and growing grade by grade each year thereafter. As a part-time teacher you will be involved in developing and leading the 9th grade curriculum. As the school grows there will be opportunity for this to transition to a full-time role.

Our school is currently looking for a math/science teacher. Some examples of classes taught at the 9th grade level in Waldorf schools that you would be responsible for include: anatomy and physiology; organic chemistry; thermodynamics; geology; algebra and/or geometry. Classes are taught in 2-3 hour blocks with each subject lasting 3-5 weeks. Math is also taught throughout the week separate from the block session.

Main Lesson Teacher Core Duties:

• Teach math and science classes
• Develop curriculum
• Contribute to developing and building science lab(s)
• Provide narrative assessments for each student for each class
• Attend weekly pedagogical/faculty meetings 
• Participate in developing school program
• If interested in only math or only one of the sciences please do still reach out and we can discuss.
• If an experienced Waldorf teacher, may become more involved in directing overall pedagogy of school.

Requirements:

• Love of your subject matter expertise
• Love of teenagers and working with teenagers
• Proclivity for creativity and exploration in teaching your subject matter
• Prior Waldorf teacher training (preferably at the high school level) or interest and commitment to being trained. 
• Previous work or teaching experience in your subject matter
