Job Description

Visiting Faculty to teach as needed on a per-course basis during Fall Semester 2024 in the Department of Sociology and Gerontology. Courses will be taught face-to-face. Course assignments are made on a semester basis. Appointment begins August 26, 2024.

The three courses that need to be covered are:

  • GTY 154 Aging in American Society, which provides an overview of the processes of aging, with an emphasis on real world questions such as why the shift to an aging society matters, how we study aging, why people age in different ways, the diverse work and living conditions of people 65 and older, and how formal and informal programs influence age-based challenges and opportunities;

  • GTY 254 Global Aging, which serves as an introduction to the phenomenon of global aging; and

  • GTY/SOC 357 Medical Sociology, which discusses the study of illness, patients, medical professionals, and problems inherent in the delivery of health care services.

Additional Information

Minimum Requirements:

Required: Master's degree in gerontology, sociology, or closely related discipline.

Consideration may be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in gerontology, sociology, or closely related discipline and experience teaching one or more of these three courses or similar coursework.
