Use critical thinking to assess clinical, social, psychological, and spiritual needs of patients, especially those requiring ostomy or skin care, ensuring continuity of care post-discharge.
Apply evidence-based practices and align with national standards (e.g., NPUAP, WOCN) to enhance patient safety, quality, and satisfaction.
Foster compassionate, patient-centered care by building strong relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
Serve as a clinical expert and role model in wound, ostomy, and continence care; provide education and mentorship to students, new hires, and peers.
Lead and participate in staff development through in-services, lectures, journal clubs, and sharing of professional resources.
Support unit-based skin care committees and contribute to clinical quality improvement initiatives.
Participate in product evaluations to ensure cost-effective, high-quality care.
Promote a healthy work environment by modeling cultural awareness, addressing workplace issues, and maintaining work-life balance.
Communicate effectively with the healthcare team, ensuring clear documentation and coordination of care plans.
Engage in shared governance, hospital-wide councils, and team leadership to drive positive change and innovation in patient care.
Continuously seek feedback and pursue professional growth within the specialty.
